Long Distance Calling

A FaceGram-free space for Photography and Painting

Exhibition “En voyage” at Galérie La Source, Fontaine-lès-Dijon, 2018

My first major exhibition after many years took place in this exquisite venue in the small town of Fontaine adjacent to Dijon, famous as the birthplace of Saint Bernard and home to a lively art scene. The municipality has set up the ancient school builing for exhibitions of artists and I had the pleasure to occupy the two floors of the gallery with my works for a month in May 2018.

The show was entitled “En voyage” (“Travelling”) and was structured by geographic region, reflecting my activities between France, Germany and elsewhere.

The exhibition started with a lovely vernissage featuring an insightful opening speech by Claude Martel (text in French):

There is a video providing an overview of the show and presenting footage from the vernissage by Jean-Pierre Dechamps (visio.2000 productions):

Here are some selected works from the exhibition, based on the smartphone page I designed for the visitors.

The gallery is situated in a small garden with a fountain (dry at the time) not too far from St. Bernard’s Basilique. The view into this garden was used in a later work I exposed in the exhibition “Fontaine-lès-Dijon viewed by artists”. The image takes the shape of the octogonal fountain in its center….
