Walking through the park on a Sunday afternoon, we noticed signs pointing at an art exhibition. It was not easy to find the actual venue, and we almost gave up before we actually got there.
Once inside the luminous ancient greenhouse, we entered the world of Anja Stemmer´s art.
Her abstract paintings range from explosive to serene, impeccably executed, often with a striking subtleness and lyricism in their finely-tuned color harmonies and semi-transparent color layers.
Even though she stresses the gestualism and the haptic component, there are no empty brute gestures for their own sake, every brush stroke is placed with precision.
What an exquisite discovery for a Sunday afternoon! A rusty-red composition on paper of hers will soon grace my office. As Anja Stemmer is very actively exhibiting, (not only in Bavaria), there is ample opportunity to see her works.
